Join us for our Cocoknits KAL starting March 4th ⭐
Host: Jennifer Hallan
This KAL will take place in person over six sessions on Monday nights from 6:00 - 8:00 pm starting in March.
Together we will make the Toni, a V-Neck cardigan with customization options galore! There are two types of incorporated button bands (Version A: garter, Version B: rib), two types of color-blocking, two types of pockets (Version A: knitted as you go, Version B incorporated with bottom front ribbing), and two different lengths. Pick and choose the parts you like to make it your own!
Directions for optional bust darts using short-row shaping are written into the pattern. The bust darts help keep the lines from riding up so the color blocking remains horizontal and gives a bit more ease on the cardigan fronts. With endless variations, get ready to knit this pattern more than once.
**Register for BOTH the Cocoknits Workshop and Cocoknits KAL and receive a $25 discount on your registration. (Discount applied automatically. Must register for both the Sweater Workshop and the KAL at the same time for discount to be applied.)**
Mark your calendars:
March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1 & 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
This class INCLUDES the Toni pattern (a $10 value) and a 10% discount off all materials bought for the KAL.
Please note: This is not an opportunity to learn to knit or make a sweater for the first time. Check out our classes for our Introduction to Knitting and First Sweater classes.
Are there prerequisties for the KAL?
Yes! Participatants should have done at least one of the following:
The Cocoknits Method was developed by Julie Weisenberger. It is a top-down knitting method that incorporates increases at specific intervals to create 3 dimensional shaping that doesn’t require seaming when you’re done. The neck, shoulders, and yoke are created together, so the shaping is softly sloped to hug the body in a flattering way, rather than squared pieces sewn together which turn out too boxy.
Who should try the Cocoknits Method?
If you've successfully knit a sweater, but have felt like it never fits you the way you want it to, you should definitely try the Cocoknits Method!
What do I get for the registration fee?
The registration fee covers access to all eight gatherings, and assistance from Jennifer at those gatherings.
Who is Julie Weisenberger?
Julie learned to knit in Europe and ran a small sweater company that sold to boutiques across the United States. Now her main focus is on designing for hand-knitters of all shapes and sizes using many of the techniques she learned in Europe and the ready-to-wear industry.
Julie has perfected the top-down, seamless method using English tailoring, which creates a flattering and perfectly fitted set-in sleeve sweater. Her simple silhouettes combined with fine yarns result in elegant, wearable designs for knitters of all abilities. In addition to designing, she develops knitting tools based on real-life experience—designed for knitters by a knitter.
This event takes place in person and masks are now optional. If community transmission rises we may encourage or require masks for the safety of our students and staff. Please stay home if you are feeling sick! Thanks for your support and for helping to keep our community safe.
