We are excited to announce that our next craftivist project will be knitting water hats for children in Flint! These hats are designed by Thea Colman (aka BabyCocktails) and all proceeds go to help children affected by the water crisis in Michigan. This project was inspired by an amazing young activist named Mari Copeny (read more about her here) who is throwing a holiday party for kids in Flint and would like 600 Water hats to give away at the party.
Here's what you need to do to participate:
1. Purchase the Water Hat Pattern on Ravelry (all proceeds go to Pack Your Back, which provides water and school supplies to the kids of Flint).
2. Go to the BabyCocktails Ravelry Group, where all the info on modifications, sizes, yarn substitutions, etc is listed in the "Knitting Water Hats for Flint- The Holiday Project" thread.
Then join us for our Craftivist Knit Togethers on Sundays from 2-4 and knit the hat with fellow craftivists. While your at it, treat yourself to a doughnut next door.
Yarn used for this project and bought at The Craftivist is 10% off. You can use a variety of yarns, but we recommend a superwash yarn such as Malabrigo Rios or Madelinetosh DK.
