Summer Sweater Club: Love Note vs. Ranunculus
Instructor: Jennifer Hallan
Are you Team Love Note or Team Ranunculus? These "Hall of Fame" patterns are quick and easy to knit, and perfect for summer. Both meant to be worked up with lots of positive ease on a larger gauge needle. They both have LOTS of projects on Ravelry for inspiration—Love Note has over 15,000 and Ranunculus has over 34,000! Will you knit a summer sweater or a cozy sweater for cooler weather?
Summer Sweater Club is a guided KAL—part class, part KAL, all fun! This KAL will take place in person over eight sessions during the summer!
Choose from one of two sweaters— Love Note by Tin Can Knits or Ranunculus by Midori Hirose. Both patterns can be knit with yarns at various gauges. Choose a fingering weight yarn with large needles for an open and airy sweater, or a worsted to bulky weight yarn for a tighter gauge. Or maybe you'll hold yarn double or triple to create your own unique fabric? We'll will help you knit a sweater that fits your body, using your gauge, body measurements, and personal sweater preferences. As we like to say in Sweater Club, "You are the boss of your own sweater!"
Summer Sweater Club will meet eight times over June and July (all Mondays except July 6th). We'll be trying something a little different and having the first session be all about planning and SHOPPING! You're always welcome to get your supplies early, but we'll be happy to help you calculate yardage and find just the right yarn(s) for the sweater you have in mind.
So which pattern will you choose? Are you Team Love Note or Team Ranunculus? One thing is for sure-- both patterns are fun, fast and very addictive! They are the perfect accompaniment to summertime, and both are patterns you will want to make again and again.
Mark your calendars!
